SMS Logistiksysteme GmbH and Unitechnik Systems GmbH are entering into a strategic collaboration. The two companies are concentrating their expertise in the airport sector under the brand name ACUNIS. ACUNIS stands for air cargo intralogistics and specializes in innovative and efficient solutions in the area of air cargo management. Users profit from customer-specific storage, transport and handling systems, including full automation, by a single provider.

ACUNIS supplies turnkey solutions for air cargo terminals. The brand name unites two market-experienced companies with pronounced expertise in plant engineering and automation. ACUNIS’s products and services range from the complete engineering for a cargo terminal, through high-bay storage systems, stacker cranes, conveyor equipment and work stations, including automation and warehouse management systems, to assembly/installation and commissioning.

Under the collaboration SMS Logistiksysteme will be responsible for load transport, handling and storage sectors. This world-market leader for and supplier of logistics systems to the steel and aluminium industry has been operating in intralogistics for over 50 years and can point to numerous references in, amongst others, airport logistics. The automation and software expertise will be contributed to the partnership by Unitechnik. This logistics company has been serving the international air cargo market since as far back as 1992. Overall management was initially the job of ICM Airport Technics, which has been part of the Unitechnik Group since 2004.

Unitechnik’s specialism lies in logistics systems, production automation and switchgear construction. In the air cargo sector Unitechnik Systems has realized numerous reference systems, such as those in Frankfurt, Sweden, Dubai, Taiwan, Ethiopia, South Africa and the USA. The collaboration between SMS Logistiksysteme and Unitechnik is their response to requirements in the global airport business. There the demand for fast, efficient and cost-effective logistics solutions has risen significantly in recent years.
