Type B Liquid Explosive Detection Systems, Bottle Scanners for Screening of Liquids & Gels

Cobalt Light Systems has been named supplier to Henri Coandă BucureÅŸti Airport, Romania for its Liquid Explosive Detection System – the Insight100M – following a recent tender.

Having completed trials of various bottle screening systems the airport decided that a Raman Spectroscopy-based system would give the best operational performance with the lowest false alarm rate. Operationally, the Insight100M gives a combined false alarm rate of less than 2.5% on metallic and non-metallic liquid containers. This is a key factor when airports choose a bottle screening technology as false alarms have a significant, negative impact on passenger throughput.

Delivery and installation of the new Insight100M systems took place during the last week of June 2015. The systems are extremely simple for security staff to use – a fast but comprehensive training program was delivered as part of the installation procedure. Liquids screening at the airport’s security checkpoints then commenced immediately.
