Voice Communication Switching Systems for (ATC) Air Traffic Control

Company SITTI
Date 30.04.2013

The SESAR (Single European Sky ATM Research) programme is one of the most ambitious research and development projects ever launched by the European Union, to meet future capacity and air safety needs. The mission of such big effort is to develop a modernised air traffic management system for Europe. This future system will ensure the safety and fluidity of air transport over the next thirty years, will make flying more environmentally friendly and reduce the costs of air traffic management.

SITTI VCS systems have been used as endpoints at ENAV in Rome Ciampino to run a number of tests to verify the applicability of VOIP (Voice Over IP) on the Pan European Network Services (PENS) for both radio and telephone connections. SITTI implementation has proved its suitability to this purpose, in line with the test and interoperability sessions already carried out in the past years at ETSI and FAA.
