Voice Communication Systems for Air Traffic Control

Company FREQUENTIS
Date 10.06.2010

This year’s Integrated Communications Navigation and Surveillance (ICNS) conference was held in Washington DC. The Frequentis contribution “Ontology-based CNS Software Development” received the “Student Innovative Idea Award” and was presented by its primary author, Eduard Gringinger. It drew on some impressive research results from Frequentis, spreading insights across the Atlantic from SESAR to NEXTGEN.

It describes an approach to leverage designs, procedures, and technologies from control centers in any specific domain into other domains, such as applying air traffic management control center applications (e.g., Tower, TRACON, Center, TFM) to emergency response centers. Cost savings and improved speed-to-market are the benefits of this excellent research on a modern Ontology- Based Control Room Framework (ONTOCOR).
