Voice Communication Systems for Air Traffic Control

Company FREQUENTIS
Date 09.02.2011

Frequentis has received a contract to supply the voice communication systems (VCS) for the Egyptian air traffic control towers at Assuyt and El Nouzha. The contract comes from ACS International LLC, Overland Park, KS, USA: ACS is undertaking complete tower renovations for Egypt’s National Air Navigation Services Company (NANSC).

In order to meet the inherent requirement for high reliability in an air traffic control switching system, Frequentis will supply the company’s cost-effective smart3020X system. Part of the VCS 3020X family, the smart3020X voice communication system employs state of the art technology for digital voice communications.

It is based on a unique, highly modular, distributed and decentralised architecture that incorporates extensive redundancy – providing a true parallel operation core switch with duplicated data and audio paths. The smart3020X features the very latest user interface technology, including sunlight-readable colour touch panels. Both systems will be delivered in early 2011.
