Company Xovis
Date 10.07.2017

Keflavik International Airport (KEF) joins the family of airports that count on Xovis. The 3D sensors of the global leader in people flow monitoring will measure the footfall within the shops at Iceland’s largest airport. Serving almost nine million passengers this year, KEF connects the likeable UEFO EURO 2016 quarter-finalist with the world.

“We are a service-oriented company and our mission is to give all passengers a warm welcome. We consider Xovis the right partner on this mission, as its 3D sensors provide us with reliable data and hence a strong foundation to improve passenger experience and satisfaction”, states Gudmundur Karl Gautason, Manager Operation Research from Isavia, the operator of all airports in Iceland. “Isavia’s trust is our commitment. The retail application is a smart start to get familiar with the Xovis 3D sensor. We hope Isavia will benefit from the full power of our technology to measure waiting times, passenger throughput and other KPIs”¸ says Andreas Fähndrich, Managing Director Xovis Airports.

Xovis has equipped 196 sites at more than 40 international airports, ranging from check-in, security control to taxi stands. Mainly used for measuring waiting times, the unique combination of Xovis 3D sensors and software solutions prepares the ground for optimizing staff and infrastructure planning. Examples from other airports have unveiled a strong correlation between the reduction of waiting times and the increase in retail sales. “After we had installed the Xovis system at security control, we could reduce waiting times and optimize staff planning. This led to an increase in retail sales of up to $10’000 in just three hours”, says Federico Cabrera, Head of CCO at Aeropuerto Internacional de Carrasco in Uruguay’s capital Montevideo.
