Zoeftig announced as prime supplier to Beijing Daxing International Airport

The recently opened Beijing Daxing International Airport aims to become the world’s busiest airport by 2021, handling a staggering 300 takeoffs and landings per hour.

Located on the border of Beijing and Langfang and 40 miles south of world’s second busiest airport, Beijing Capital International Airport, the new Daxing International airport will support the 170 million passengers expected to fly into the city of Beijing by 2025. The mega airport will also ease congestion of domestic and international flights between China’s capital city and the rest of the world.

To handle the high passenger footfall, Beijing Daxing International airport installed over 7,600 of Zoeftig’s innovative Zenky Plus and Zenky Plus recliner seating solutions throughout its North West, South West and South Central zones. The unique design of the Zenky Plus beam seating system is both durable and ergonomic, making it the ideal solution for busy airports.

As the airport is the largest single-structure airport terminal in the world, spanning an impressive 700,000 square metres and costing £8.8 billion to construct, it required seating solutions that were not only aesthetically stylish, but also offered outstanding comfort.

The combination of Zenky Plus seating solutions and Zenky Plus recliners complements the iconic starfish structure, designed by the late architect Zaha Hadid, as its flowing curves and geometric folds mimic the airport’s structure. Upholstered in six bespoke shades of leather with PU arm pads, the stylish seating solutions also provide unrivalled levels of luxury.
