Leading the way in logistics
Emirates' 151-strong fleet is one of the youngest in the skies. Emirates SkyCargo’s fleet includes seven freighters (three Boeing 747-400Fs, two 747-400ERFs and two 777Fs) and now serves 108 destinations in 65 countries on six continents.
In the 2009/2010 financial year, Emirates SkyCargo carried over 1.6 million tonnes of cargo, an improvement of 12.2 percent over the year’s previous 1.4 million tonnes. Cargo revenue, at AED 6.3 billion (US$ 1.7 billion), including mail and courier, contributed 17.2 percent of the airline’s total transport revenue.
In June 2009 Emirates SkyCargo took delivery of its second Boeing 777F. Scheduled freighters now operate to 25 destinations.
Over the next few years, the airline will welcome 202 aircraft to its fleet, including two Boeing 777Fs and five Boeing 747-8Fs (with options for a further four 777Fs and five 747-8Fs). The total value of aircraft now on its order books is US $68 billion.
Our cargo solutions have been developed to provide our customers with cutting-edge air freight services. Our Priority Products assure on-time delivery throughout the world, while our extensive trucking and offline partner networks ensure comprehensive coverage where our customers need it most.
Our fleet, too, demonstrates our commitment to excellence. Amongst the youngest of any airline, it comprises the latest wide-body jets from Airbus and Boeing. We were the first major airline to place an order for the revolutionary Airbus A380 super jumbo.
In everything we do, quality is our watchword. We're particularly proud that our efforts have been recognised throughout the industry. We've won a clutch of awards this year: Best Middle East Cargo Airline for 21 consecutive years, from Air Cargo News, UK; Cargo Airline of the year from Air Cargo News; Best All Cargo Airline from Air Cargo News; Cargo Operator of the year (commercial airline) at the Supply Chain and Transport Awards (SCATA) in the UAE; Best Air Cargo Carrier Middle East 14 years in a row, at the Asian Freight & Supply Chain Awards in Hong Kong; Air Cargo Industry Training and Development from Air Cargo Week and Cargo Service Category Advertisement award from Air Transport World, USA.

Cargo Mega Terminal
The finest service in the sky is supported by the finest facilities on the ground. Much of our success is attributable to the systems and equipment at the Cargo Mega Terminal, acknowledged by the industry as one of the most modern and efficient cargo terminals in the world.
Since opening its doors to the world in 2008, our new Cargo Mega Terminal, built on a 43,600 square metre site, has increased our ground-handling capacity by 1.2 million tonnes per year, and has the capability to handle all types of cargo from one central location. The new addition increases our global hub throughput capacity to 1.6 million tons a year.
At the Cargo Mega Terminal, the accelerated retrieval of consignments through the automated handling systems and real-time tracking of cargo assures increased productivity. Fully integrated computer systems link airlines, customs and freight forwarding agencies, so that consignments can be traced and retrieved in minutes, while dedicated facilities for courier shipments and express cargo provide fast-track, priority channels.
The same meticulous planning extends to the Cargo Mega Terminal's special handling facilities. For instance, live animals are accommodated in noise protected areas with temperatures regulated to suit their individual needs. And independently controlled, special storage zones meet the critical requirements of temperature-sensitive medicines and perishable goods.
Emirates SkyCargo has a dedicated team based at the Cargo Mega Terminal which is comprehensively trained in the cargo handling needs of a wide range of products. Authorities including Dubai Customs, Dubai Municipality, Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Information, State Security Department, Dubai Police, CID, the Department of Civil Aviation and the UAE Ministry of Agriculture & Fisheries are conveniently located in the same building, allowing for speedy export acceptance and import delivery.
In essence, the Cargo Mega Terminal ensures the shortest acceptance, delivery and transit times of any major international airport, with urgent inbound consignments cleared within 120 minutes of arrival, outbound acceptances up to just 120 minutes prior to departure and outbound transfers possible in less than 120 minutes.
Ever since SkyCargo first took to the air in 1985 we have had just one single-minded philosophy: to ensure that Emirates SkyCargo customers receive all the benefits of modern logistics management techniques and all the advantages of the latest technology, together with friendly advice and service from some of the most knowledgeable cargo professionals in the industry.
In the years since then, Emirates SkyCargo has established a formidable reputation, evidenced not only by receiving more than 100 international awards – including Best Cargo Airline to the Middle East for an unequalled 20 years in a row but, even more essentially, by the thousand of shippers & freight forwarders around the world who now insist on their consignments being flown on Emirates. However, while proud of the accolades, we are very much aware that we have to earn your trust with every shipment.
