Company Profile

  • Aluminium Aircraft Access Systems

Lightweight, strong and versatile, aluminium is the perfect choice for manufacturing access systems to fulfil your requirements.

For 40 years Planet Platforms has been designing, building, maintaining and inspecting aircraft docking systems for a wide range of aircraft types.

Found in both the commercial and military sectors our mobile solutions provide maintenance personnel the ideal platform to work at height safely.

A mobile solution offers speed and efficiency when turnaround times are critical in order to return an aircraft into service.

Configurations include nose and tail docks, wing stages, engine and cargo bay door access.

  • Innovative Steering System

The Planet Platforms Chain Steering System offers users unrivalled manoeuvrability over traditional bogey systems. Patented by world leading castor manufacturer, Blickle, it operates on the Ackerman steering principle.

From travelling in a straight line the chain system can then traverse 90 degrees from this orientation by simply turning the steering arm.

The advantages don’t stop there. The low friction resistance castors with a zero degree inside turning radius mean platforms mounted on top of the system can be moved by one person: even those that previously required several men to move and reposition.

    See http://www.planetplatforms.co.uk/innovative-steering-system for additional details.

  • Helicopter Docking Systems

Working at height on and around helicopters needs to be carried out in the quickest, safest and most efficient way possible. Turnaround times have to be kept to a minimum, particularly so where they are responsible for Search and Rescue.

Planet Platforms has an extensive design database for both commercial and military helicopters. Configurations include port and starboard side stands, nose and tail docks and combi stands.

By enhancing these platforms with lights, air and electrics engineers have everything they need to face these challenges. Additionally, we have also developed flat-packed solutions that enables Planet Platforms to service markets in some of the more remote areas of the world.

  • Fibreglass Access Equipment

Fibreglass is lightweight, strong, versatile and non-conductive making it perfect for use when traditional metal access systems cannot be deployed.

We offer tower systems, platforms and podiums to help with your every need. We developed Protec, our Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) solution for the ultimate in safety for work at height regulations.

If you’re looking for Zone One tested, chemical, weather and spark resistant access then we can help with our wide range of bespoke solutions.
