The AVD 50L Lithium-Ion Fire Extinguisher Trolley Unit is engineered to address the risk of large lithium-ion battery fires in airport and aviation environments, where electrification of large ground support equipment (eGSE) such as passenger steps, airplane service vehciles, electric passenger transport buses, vehicles (EVs), and charging infrastructure is dramatically increasing. These risks are characterised by thermal runaway, a self-sustaining reaction that traditional fire extinguishers cannot effectively control.
This solution utilises Aqueous Vermiculite Dispersion (AVD) technology, which applies a fine mist containing exfoliated vermiculite platelets. Upon contact, the agent rapidly cools the battery cells while forming a cohesive, heat-resistant barrier that prevents oxygen ingress. This dual-action mechanism suppresses flames, inhibits propagation between cells, and significantly reduces the likelihood of re-ignition.
Designed specifically for large, heavy high-risk infrastructure and EV charging zones, the system enables immediate, controlled intervention at the point of risk. It supports airport fire strategies by reducing incident escalation, protecting critical infrastructure, and maintaining operational continuity.
