Alicante–Elche Miguel Hernández Airport, is one of the busiest airports in Spain based on passenger numbers, and the main airport serving the Valencian Community and the Region of Murcia.

Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport is located 9 kilometres southwest of Alicante, in the municipality of Elche, one of the most dynamic and fastest-growing business and economic zones on the Mediterranean coast.

The essential role of tourism is reflected in the percentage of international passenger flights that this airport handles, around 90% of the total. The main countries of origin of these passengers are the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands and Norway.

Scheduled domestic traffic has also increased in recent years. Barcelona, Madrid, and Mallorca are the three most popular destinations.
