Sanya Phoenix International Airport Co., Ltd. is located 11 kilometers Northwest of Sanya City, and surrounded by places of interest and natural beauty. To its east is “Luhuitou”, the west is ” The remotest corners of the globe”, the north is the Phoenix Mountain, and the south is the South China Sea.

Phoenix Airport was officially put into service on July 1, 1994. It covers an area of more than 7,000 mu, with a runway length of 3400 meters and a width of 60 meters (including the shoulder). The flight area is 4E-rated, which can meet the full load takeoff and landing requirements of Boeing 747-400, Airbus 340 and other large aircrafts.The existing airport terminal comprises 107,000 square meters (of which the Terminal 1 is 58,300 square meters, Terminal 2 is 20,000 square meters, International terminal building is 15,700 square meters, and VIP terminal building is 13,000 square meters), there are 83 stands on the apron and 18 boarding bridges.

The route network of Phoenix Airport has covered all provincial capital cities in China. In the first quarter of 2021, a total of 142 routes (142 domestic routes) and 81 navigable cities (81 domestic routes) were operated, with 43 leading airlines. The Colorful Guizhou Airlines was added, and Sanya = Zunyi = Lhasa route was opened. To build a network of routes extending in all directions to help the rapid development of local economy.

In 2007, The passenger throughput of Phoenix Airport exceeded 5 million person times and entered the ranks of large and medium-sized airports ；In 2011, the passenger throughput exceeded 10 million person times for the first time ,officially entering the ranks of domestic 10 million level airports. In 2018, the annual passenger flow of Phoenix International Airport exceeds 20 million, making it become the first 20 million-passenger-airport of prefecture-level cities throughout the nation. In 2019, the International (regional) passenger throughput exceeded 1 million person times for the first time, opening a new chapter in the history of Sanya civil aviation; In 2020, the peak hour capacity standard of Phoenix Airport have risen to 25 sorties / hour, and the flight volume work has taken us 9 years to achieve such a major breakthrough.
