Today, American Express announced The Centurion® Lounge at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS), opening September 17, as the 33rd location in the Centurion Lounge Network. Inspired by Dutch art, landscapes, culture and design, the new lounge features floor-to-ceiling windows, a Blue Roast Coffee Bar, a full bar with beer and cocktails1 and a buffet offering seasonal dishes. The lounge is located between Concourses E and F and is open 6 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. daily.
“Schiphol is a major travel hub for our Card Members in the Netherlands and around the world. That made Schiphol a natural place to bring the Centurion Lounge experience,” said Audrey Hendley, President, American Express Travel. “As the first global credit card company to operate a lounge at AMS, we look forward to welcoming Card Members in a premium space designed to reflect the character of Amsterdam.”
Inspired by Dutch Heritage, Designed for Today
Spanning nearly 6,000 square feet, the AMS Centurion Lounge is a contemporary space that also celebrates the country’s rich heritage. Design highlights include:
- A Reflection of Local Landscapes: A rich palette of blues, greens and earth tones evokes Amsterdam’s landscapes and famous canals, while the lines, proportions and repetition in the design represent the iconic canal houses of the city.
- History and Modernity Through Architecture: Black quartzite, brass trim and warm wood accents create a layered, contemporary design, while floor-to-ceiling windows bring in natural light and highlight the space’s contrasting tones and textures.
- Celebrating Local Artists: A collection of works from Dutch artists including Mieke Jonker, Reinder Schmidt, Geesien Postema and Thirza Schaap brings contemporary interpretations of Dutch nature and identity into the space. A painting of the American Express bulldog by Jonker subtly weaves in iconic Dutch motifs such as Delft Blue plates, floral designs and silhouettes of former Dutch queens through expressive brushwork, bringing the artwork to life while thoughtfully nodding to the local context.
“The opening of the American Express Lounge is a great addition to Schiphol’s lounge offering. Passengers increasingly value choice in how they spend their time at the airport, whether they want to relax, work or recharge before their flight,” said Tim de Bie, Commercial Terminal Director at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. “This new lounge adds a distinctive premium hospitality concept and further strengthens the quality and diversity of the passenger experience at Schiphol.”
Signature Food & Drink Amenities
As part of the culinary experience, guests can expect seasonal dishes inspired by Dutch and regional European flavors, elevated interpretations of local ingredients and a dining experience designed specifically for modern travelers. Beverages from the bar will also combine local inspiration with global influences.
Amsterdam’s coffee culture also plays a central role in the Lounge experience. The Blue Roast Coffee Bar celebrates Amsterdam’s coffee culture with locally sourced coffee and a dedicated barista-led program
