Concourse A demolition at Memphis International Airport has begun to make room for Terminal Modernization & Seismic Projects

Demolition of Concourse A has begun. The space will be cleared to prepare several key future construction sites as part of the Terminal Modernization and Seismic Project (TMSP).

The airport will first use the Concourse A area for storing construction materials needed for the modernized terminal project.

In addition, this area will be the site of a new MSCAA administration building and new checked baggage inspection system (CBIS). The demolition is expected to be completed in late 2025/early 2026.

Concourse A was originally built in 1974. It has not been used since MEM combined all airline, retail and restaurant operations into the modernized Concourse B in 2022.

Additional upcoming TMSP milestones include (dates subject to change):

  • June: Completed speed table work, B crosswalk reopened
  • July 7: Concourse A demo begins
  • End of July: Transit tunnel work completed
  • September:
    • Commercial curb opens, Uber/Lyft relocated to lower level
    • Departures Level, B pedestrian access closed
    • Arrivals Level, B pedestrian access closed
  • November:
    • Departures Level, B pedestrian access is closed
    • Arrivals Level, B pedestrian access closed
    • Tunnel Level, B pedestrian access closed
