On Tuesday, Aug. 6, Denver International Airport (DEN) began upgrading its parking lot/ garage payment kiosks to leverage more current technology. The new machines, known as Flash machines, will provide a more efficient and easy experience for parkers exiting DEN lots. Features of the new machines include:
- Thermal-printed barcodes on tickets that can last up to 30 days in direct sunlight. (The older machines use ink-printed tickets that are more likely to fade);
- New equipment that increases the likelihood of consistent receipt printing;
- Updated license plate readers that can automatically calculate parking fees in case a driver loses their ticket.

The equipment replacement will impact all customer parking areas. The replacement process will begin on August 6 and is expected to be completed by August 22. During this time, both old and new equipment will be in place. Drivers who entered DEN parking facilities through the older gray machines (pictured below, top) will need to exit through the older machines. Drivers who enter through the new purple Flash machines (pictured right) will need to also exit through a Flash machine.

Parking areas and exit lanes will have signage in place directing drivers to their appropriate exit lane. DEN Parking representatives will be on location 24/7 throughout the equipment transition to provide direction, guidance and support.
