Discover finnishness in Helsinki Airport’s VIP and meeting facilities

Finavia’s new VIP and meeting facilities at Helsinki Airport introduce guests to Finland already at the airport. The elegant spaces make it possible to host meetings conveniently without leaving the airport. The aim of the design was to make Finnish nature accessible to travellers.

A taste of Finland already at the airport

The VIP & Meetings facilities in Helsinki Airport’s arrivals hall combine the privacy and services needed by VIP guests with modern and flexible meeting facilities. The new facilities are easily accessible, refreshing and suitable for both one-on-one meetings and larger events.

In terms of interior design, the setting is inspired by Finnish nature and its four seasons. The meeting rooms are named after phenomena in the sky: Kaikuu (Echo) lounge, Sumu (Fog), Pilke (Twinkle), Pouta (Fair weather), Kajo (Glimmer) and Loimu (Glow).

The materials, tones and atmospheres of the premises tell a story of Finnishness – the surface of a lake on a summer’s day, raindrops in the autumn and a glittering snow cover. All furniture and surface materials in the premises are made by Finnish manufacturers. The upholstery fabrics are manufactured at Annala’s weaving mill in Lapua, and they combine both classics and a new generation of designers.

The flexible facilities enable working, meetings and relaxation as part of the travel. The facilities adapt to the guest’s needs.

The facilities were designed by Interior Architect SIO Sisse Collander.

Elegance and privacy for VIP guests

During the spring, Helsinki Airport’s VIP President, which serves state guests in particular, was also renewed. The updated interior design follows the same design philosophy as the VIP & Meetings facilities in the arrivals hall: This space features nature-inspired tones, authentic materials and a calming, yet surprising, atmosphere. The VIP President facilities offer guests an environment that combines privacy, comfort and aesthetics. Particular attention has been paid to acoustics, the adaptability of the spaces and subtle luxury.

The VIP President facilities were originally introduced in 1997. This spring, the surface materials were updated and furniture refurbished so that the premises could once again serve guests in their full glory. Collander was responsible for the design phase here as well.
