Munich Airport is transforming into a winter wonderland for the 25th time this year: The Christmas and winter market, a long-standing tradition, will open on Friday, November 14, at the Munich Airport Center (MAC). From then until December 28, 2025, travelers from all over the world, visitors, and employees are invited to linger, enjoy, and marvel.
With a festively decorated pine forest, cozy huts, twinkling lights, and the scent of mulled wine and roasted almonds, the Christmas and winter market offers an atmospheric break from the hustle and bustle of the airport. Around 40 market stalls offer handmade gift ideas, culinary specialties, and winter treats from the region.
A special “hot spot” is the 600 square meter ice rink for skating and curling (bookings via the website). Visitors can expect an extensive program with a wide range of entertainment options. For example, they can make Advent wreaths, design Christmas tree baubles, paint ceramics, do Christmas crafts, have their children’s faces painted, enjoy magic shows, or admire soap bubble performances. Santa Claus will also be visiting again this year with sweets for the children on November 27, December 6, and December 19.
New this year is the “Wish Tree” initiative, taking place on December 6 and 7. Numerous wish notes will hang on the festively decorated wishing tree at the Christmas and winter market, benefiting children from charitable institutions and social organizations. Visitors to the Christmas and winter market can fulfill these children’s wishes by taking a wish note from the tree, purchasing the gift, and dropping it off at the “Elk Hut” by December 18.
In the evenings, live performances by regional artists and bands will create a festive atmosphere – the music ranges from rock, pop, funk, and Italo to swing, Latin, gospel, and modern folk music.
Those who would like to experience the sea of lights at the airport after dark can take part in the 50-minute Christmas light tours. Tickets can only be booked online. The meeting point for the tour is at the light tour hut directly at the Christmas and winter market.
The winter market is open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Only on Christmas Eve does the market close at 4 p.m. Admission is free. Free parking is available for up to one hour, and discounted parking is available for up to three hours.
