Date 05.10.2021
DHL Express, the express delivery specialist, has inaugurated its new logistics hub in the heart of the cargo area at Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport. This facility – ten times larger than the previous one – is the largest investment ever made in France by the subsidiary of the Deutsche Post Group.

The strengthening of DHL Express’ presence at Paris-Charles de Gaulle will fully contribute to the attractiveness of the airport’s “cargo city”, Europe’s leading and largest cargo zone. Groupe ADP, involved as a land-developer and investor, is delighted with the success of this real estate project. After investing more than €80 million in the modernisation of its French network over the last six years, DHL Express France has invested €170 million in the construction of its new regional hub in the airport’s cargo area. This new facility covers a total area of 91,000 s.qm, equivalent of 13 football fields.
By moving from its air freight station in cargo 2 district of the airport – the oldest freight station of the cargo city – to a state-of-the-art warehouse in cargo 7 district, DHL will be able to rely on a more efficient tool for sorting and cross-docking air parcel flows in international transit, coming from and going to Europe, the French overseas departments and territories and major exports.Once it is up and running at end of October, the site will be able to operate with a processing capacity of 38,000 items (parcels and flyers)/hour, i.e. fifteen times more than the old facility. It will also accommodate 719 employees working in 32,000 sq.m of operating spaces.

Regarding this inauguration, Augustin de Romanet, Chairman and CEO of Aéroports de Paris SA – Groupe ADP, stated: “The strengthening of DHL Express’s presence at Paris-Charles de Gaulle shows, in the current climate, the resilience of the cargo business in general and the dynamism of express freight in particular. With this new hub, the airport’s Cargo city consolidates Paris-Charles de Gaulle’s position as one of the most successful airports worldwide for air freight transport.”

Philippe Prétat, CEO of DHL Express France, said: “We are delighted to have built our new sorting centre in the heart of the Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport cargo area, which is a real crossroads for international trade. It is a key site for our French and global network. We have a long-term vision for this facility as we will be able to increase its capacity as volumes increase and create new jobs.”
