On 11 February a high-level working meeting was held at Boryspil International Airport with representatives of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), a delegation from Nippon Koei led by General Manager Mr. Hirano Kuniomi, and representatives of the Embassy of Japan in Ukraine.
The visit marked a key stage in the ongoing project to restore and modernize Ukraine’s aviation infrastructure, aligning strategic priorities with practical implementation at Boryspil.
Discussions focused on priority areas including cybersecurity, modernization of security and biometric systems, and the development of a phased operational recovery model. Particular emphasis was placed on integrating technical solutions into the airport’s operating model and strengthening critical infrastructure resilience.
Boryspil International Airport is positioned as the anchor implementation platform for agreed solutions, with potential for scaling across Ukraine’s aviation sector.
The parties confirmed a shared commitment to developing a structured modernization roadmap and advancing toward implementation. A preliminary portfolio of priority projects was reviewed, focusing on security, IT resilience, and operational readiness.
“We view this cooperation as a systemic platform for restoring Ukraine’s aviation infrastructure. Our goal is to ensure full readiness of Boryspil Airport for the resumption of flights in line with international safety and efficiency standards as soon as the security situation allows,” said Oleksiy Dubrevskyy, CEO of Boryspil International Airport.
The preparatory phase is expected to be completed with alignment on project parameters by the end of March 2026.
Boryspil International Airport expresses its sincere appreciation to the Japanese partners for their professionalism and commitment in advancing this strategic cooperation.
