Schiphol will be conducting maintenance works on the Zwanenburgbaan Runway from Monday 31st May until Monday 21st June. The runway will not be available to air traffic while these works are going on. Air traffic will make more frequent use of the Buitenveldertbaan Runway and Oostbaan Runway during peak moments.
Works
To keep it in a good condition, regular maintenance is carried out on the Zwanenburgbaan Runway every year. The asphalt and markings are restored, the cabling and electrics are checked, and the grassy areas around the runway are mowed.
While this regular maintenance is going on, works will also be conducted on taxiways Zulu, Alfa and Bravo to the west of the runway because of the completion of the dual taxiway system. These works are being carried out in collaboration with construction company Heijmans.
Changes to runway use
Throughout this period of maintenance, air traffic will be handled as much as possible on the Kaagbaan Runway and Polderbaan Runway. Air traffic will make more frequent use of the Buitenveldertbaan Runway en Oostbaan Runway during peak moments, when a second runway is required. Which runway is used depends of a variety of factors, including the weather conditions (wind force, wind direction and showers), runway availability and air traffic volumes.
