The Lyon-Saint Exupéry freight platform is modernising and welcoming a new logistics hub

Company Lyon–Saint-Exupéry Airport
Date 20.10.2022

A new building for UPS has been inaugurated at Lyon-Saint Exupéry airport. With a capacity to sort 3,000 packages per hour, this logistics hub is part of the modernisation project for the platform’s cargo area, Cargoport.

At the end of September 2022, 40,000 tonnes of air cargo were handled at the hub, representing a 7% growth compared to 2021. As the second largest cargo airport in France, Lyon Airport is a key player in the local economy, providing more than 1,500 full-time jobs and supporting a large number of companies in the region that depend on this activity (particularly the pharmaceutical industry and express freight).

In line with the VINCI Airports’ environmental ambitions, the UPS building has been designed with a view to optimising energy consumption and reducing CO2 emissions: obtaining LEED certification, which implies a 20 to 25% reduction in energy consumption, and a 33% reduction in CO2 emissions thanks to the insulation of the building.
