In 2009, GS RealTime  was implemented to support the tasks carried out by the Lufthansa LEOS at Munich Airport. There are about 15 to 20 drivers per shift in the LEOS Department serving the so-called HON Circle Members with luxury transfers in cars such as the Porsche Cayenne. These passengers have to be taken between the aircraft and the terminal or, in the case of a transfer flight, from one aircraft to the connecting one as soon as they arrive and with minimum waiting time.

By the end of 2009, a special web interface for First Class Lounges and PDA’s for the limousine drivers were introduced. HON Passengers are signed up in the system via web interface in the First Class Lounges. Subsequently, they are assigned to a limousine driver who takes that person to the aircraft after boarding has started. The necessary information about each task is sent automatically from GS RealTime to the driver’s PDA.

“The introduction of PDAs has been a great relief. We are really happy with them since information between GS RealTime and our limousine drivers is now very easy and fast,” says Christian Eib, coordinator First Class Limousine Service MUC at Lufthansa LEOS Control Center Munich.

Lufthansa LEOS specialises in transport, engineering, maintenance and apron services and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Lufthansa Technik AG; it has locations in Frankfurt, Munich and Duesseldorf.
