The Global Friction Tester Equipment (GFTE), designed and manufactured by Scandinavian Airfield Systems AB is one of the most user friendly and reliable Runway Surface Friction Testers available on the market. All GFTEs are designed to measure accurate friction data and to present the data accordingly, for both operational and for maintenance measurements. The quality of the GFTE surface friction testers, is characterized by the company’s high demands in product development. The software used for friction measurements and for presenting the measurement data is easy to use and it provides the information the customer requires. The GFTE is approved by the FAA and by the CAAC.

To meet the ICAO Global Reporting Format (GRF) standards, any of the SAS-AB’s Runway Surface Friction Testers can be equipped with an electronic GRF system. The electronic GFR system guides the Operators to assess and report the correct runway surface conditions. The GRF system is powered and supported by a third party, with more than 30 years experience with electronic Snowtam systems.
