A-SMGCS (Advanced Surface Movement Guidance and Control System)

Description

Copperchase’s A-SMGCS (Advanced Surface Movement Guidance and Control System) gives air traffic controllers a complete, accurate, real-time picture of every aircraft and vehicle on the airport surface. Our A-SMGCS works in all visibility conditions, including low-visibility operations, and does not depend on line of sight from the control tower.

Multi-sensor airport surface surveillance. The A-SMGCS fuses Surface Movement Radar (SMR) and ADS-B into one stable track for every aircraft and vehicle on the movement area. SMR detects non-cooperative targets, such as vehicles or aircraft with an inoperative transponder. ADS-B provides positive identification and precise positioning. Each track appears on a clear Traffic Situation Display showing the airport map, callsign labels, stands, taxiways, runway status and flight data.

Runway incursion alerting and ground safety nets. A-SMGCS Level 1 provides surveillance: position, identification and continuous tracking. A-SMGCS Level 2 adds Ground Safety Nets with Runway Monitoring and Conflict Alerting (RMCA). Controllers receive visual and audible alerts for runway incursions, restricted area incursions, excessive taxi speed, unexpected stops, line-up positions and other potential conflicts, so they can act before a situation becomes hazardous.

Integrated with your ATM/ATC system. Copperchase’s A-SMGCS (Advanced Surface Movement Guidance and Control System) integrates with your air traffic management system and operational flight data. It improves runway safety, reduces controller workload and keeps surface traffic moving efficiently at busy or complex airports. Built around the EUROCONTROL A-SMGCS service model, it can grow with your airport towards routing and guidance services.
