Complete ATC tower refit at St Athan. When RAF St Athan became a civilian airport, Copperchase supplied and installed the major ATC equipment, working with Serco and the Welsh Government. Every operational item was replaced, from the equipment room to the VCR: MET sensors, a dual 10 kVA UPS, a TCS9900 VCCS voice communication control system, VHF and UHF radios, a crash alarm system, ED-137 voice recorders, four 18-metre antenna masts, a GPS clock system, new operator desks and a full Copperchase ATC data system with AMHS, AUTO METAR, automatic terminal information service (ATIS) and a flight data management system. The final changeover took just four days, and the tower went live on time in April 2019.
Turnkey ATC tower solution at North Weald Airfield. For Epping Forest District Council, Copperchase delivered a turnkey upgrade of North Weald’s ATC communications and support systems: an ED-137 touch screen radio console, VHF airband radios, Copperchase AIR voice recording, an automatic weather station on a tiltable mast, network time servers, a signal light gun, a rotating aerodrome beacon, an airport crash alarm system and an integrated operator desk. Copperchase also advised on beacon placement, adapted controller positions after operator consultation, and provides spares, telephone ATC support and warranty cover.
Integrated ATC tower upgrade at Leeds Bradford Airport. Copperchase helped deliver Leeds Bradford Airport’s first integrated UK air traffic control system upgrade in 30 years. The three-year project included refitted radar equipment, a radar data processor, radar and voice recorders and a refitted approach room. The CAA officially opened it in 2016.
Digital ATC tower systems at Cranfield Airport. For the UK’s first digital ATC tower, a step towards the future of air traffic control, Copperchase supplied the complete ATC data system and air traffic control software: AMHS messaging, a flight data management system with flight strips, MET data processing, ATIS, an ATC information display system, a crash alarm system and an ATC recorder.
