System Level 508 Powered – Right Angle Deck
Right Angle Deck (RAD)
The Right Angle Deck is designed to transfer loads right angled (lateral) to the primary longitudinal movement by interchanging the operating heights of two conveyor decks. This motion is accomplished by lifting a partially motor powered wheel deck vertically through a motor powered roller deck. The combination of these two decks provide conveying at right angles to each other. The interchanging mechanism is electro-mechanically operated.
The Right Angle Deck is suitable for ULD’s with maximum 10 ft base size with dimensions: L x W: 125 x 96 inch (3,175 x 2,438 mm) and weight 15,000 lbs (6,800 kg).
Motor Powered Roller Deck
The frame consists of steel sections and cross-bracings to provide a rigid frame.
The full width zinc plated rollers run in sealed and permanently greased spherical bearings.
Motor Powered Wheel Deck
Wheels are placed in channels on a frame between the above mentioned rollers and enable transfer of ULD’s right angled to the transfer direction of the roller.
Five sets of steel wheels are powered, four sets of polyamide wheels are free-running.
The rollers and wheels are each linked by means of chains and sprockets. Sprockets and chains are engaged over 180°. Both the roller and wheel deck are powered by an electric motor with brake and gearbox unit which can stop a maximum load within 100 mm and prevent motion once the load has stopped. All drive elements such as chains, sprockets, etc. are protected with removable sheet metal covers in such a way that these elements cannot be touched without removing covers. Non-skid walkways are installed between the rollers.
Lifting Assembly
The motor powered lift system with cam discs is designed to interchange the operating height of the roller and wheel decks. It will lift the wheels from ±15 mm below to ±15 mm above the roller plane level and vice versa. The timing of the cam discs will ensure that the ULD transfer height will remain 508 mm in all directions.
The right angle deck is equipped with photo sensors to detect the ULD position on the deck.
