The baggage handling system at US gateway Minot International Airport in North Dakota is to be upgraded.

Logan Teleflex, a subsidiary of Daifuku Webb Holding Company, has been awarded the contract, which is worth more than $2 million.

The project includes the installation of ticketing and transporting conveyors, inbound flat plate reclaim devices and an outbound security screening system for Minot’s new terminal.

The airport says Minot's growth in population, along with the enormous influx of workers and residents due to the oil boom in western North Dakota, has ‘tremendously’ increased passenger numbers.

A new terminal is also being built at Minot International Airport to accommodate the increase in travellers.

Brian Stewart, managing director of global airport baggage handling at Logan Teleflex, explains: “We are excited to partner with Minot International Airport during this time of impressive growth.

“In today’s world, we understand that a dependable, security conscious and efficient baggage handling system is more critical than ever.

“Our experienced experts and continued focus on customer care will play an integral role throughout this project.”

Last year, the gateway handled more than 220,000 passengers, to destinations mainly across the US through United Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Frontier Airlines, and Allegiant Air.
