Following the success of its 2012 competition, Passenger Terminal World magazine has launched the 2014 Design Challenge – an exclusive biennial terminal seating design competition that will enable current and future designers to showcase their ideas to an international audience.

As part of Design Challenge 2014, the magazine is looking for university students and companies specialising in furniture design to come up with innovative and next-generation concepts for airport seating designs that could change the way seating is developed in the future.

A judging panel from some of the leading airport seating design companies across the globe will then decide on their top entries, considering factors such as aesthetics, features, cost, durability and environmental impact. The chosen designs will be featured in the June issue of Passenger Terminal World.

“With so much competition in the airport seating design sector, this challenge provides a great opportunity for up and coming and established designers to showcase their design prowess to potential employers, as well as their peers,” said Helen Norman, editor of Passenger Terminal World. “We saw some great entries in the 2012 competition, but we believe that this year will be even better!”

Entrants should submit up to five high resolution images of their designs along with a 250 word description of the main features and advantages by Monday 21 April 2014.
