Chopin Airport handled over 1,151,000 passengers in July 2014 (down 2.3% year-on-year), making it the Warsaw airport’s second busiest July ever.

MichaÅ‚ Kaczmarzyk, director of Chopin Airport, said: “July 2013 was the best month in our history – we welcomed 1,178,000 passengers. This year’s July is almost as busy, with 1,151,000 passengers handled. It is only 2.3% less than a year before and that despite the fact that Ryanair, which generated over 10% of passenger traffic last year, no longer operates from Warsaw. This means that other airlines flying to/from Warsaw are expanding their operations, driving traffic growth.”

In total, Chopin Airport has handled nearly 6 million passengers since the beginning of the year, including over 5.26 million on international flights (down 5.5%) and 700,000 domestically (up 9.6%).

The number of aircraft movements fell by 3.8% in July and totalled 13,400.
