Areas sports bars open at Madrid-Barajas Airport in Spain

Food and beverage retailer Areas has opened two new sports bars at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport in Spain in partnership with brewing company Mahou San Miguel.

The ‘Mahoudrid’ sports bars opened at terminals 2 and 3 at Madrid-Barajas Airport and were officially unveiled by Fernando Sánchez, airport director for Areas in Spain and Portugal, Fernando Bustamante, key accounts director for Mahou San Miguel Food and Beverage, and Iker Casillas, goalkeeper for Real Madrid football club.

Speaking at the inauguration, Casillas said, “It will be a ‘must-see’ for airport travelers. I’d come to the sports bar with Isco and Carvajal,” referring to his two Real Madrid team mates.

Casillas donated a pair of signed goalkeeping gloves to add to the memorabilia on show for passengers at the bars, which also includes signed shirts and balls, and special-edition bottles of Mahou Cinco Estrellas.

Mahou San Miguel previously opened the first Mahoudrid sports bar in Terminal 4 of the airport in June 2014.
