Vienna International Airport in Austria has officially unveiled its new look Pier West concourse along with its renovated C-Gates. The 31,170ft2 space was completely refurbished throughout with new lighting and newly decorated walls, floors and ceilings. Flughafen Wien Management, operators for Vienna Airport, installed seating equipped with power outlets and USB ports, as well as a new dining area from Austrian catering company DO & CO.

Julian Jäger, member of the management board for Vienna Airport, said, “The modernization of Pier West was one of the most important projects within the context our quality strategy, and the results are what we wanted. Effective immediately, passengers will experience a continuous, spacious gate area, a high quality culinary offering and a brighter, more pleasant overall atmosphere in the terminal. This project will serve as a benchmark for future modernization projects focusing on the terminal infrastructure of the airport hub.”

Christian Lesjak, managing director of airline NIKI, said, “The renovated Pier West enables our passengers to experience a product on the ground which sets new standards, whether for culinary entertainment or shopping possibilities. The time spent at Vienna Airport is already part of the travel experience, which has no need to fear any international comparison. As a result, NIKI and Vienna Airport will become an even more convincing transfer hub of the airberlin group.”

DO & CO created a restaurant area of 2,600ft2 featuring three new culinary offerings including Demel, Henry and American diner Big Daddy. It also included a DO & CO Bar where passengers can relax and enjoy a wide range of beverages.

Attila Dogudan, CEO of DO & CO, said, "The catering at the new Pier West is at a top international level, and offers all passengers a particularly wide range of culinary specialties. We are very pleased with the intensification of our cooperation with Vienna Airport based on a shared understanding of quality, innovation and individual service."
