More than 1.2 million travellers were handled at Chopin Airport in July 2015, the best monthly result in the airport’s history and a 5.7% growth year-on-year.
In July Chopin Airport served 1 216 500 passengers, a nearly 6% improvement compared with the previous July. The number of passenger operations, including both full-frill and low-cost airlines flights, dropped by 0.6% year-on-year, reaching 11.8 thousand.
"We are happy with the results, as they show that the airport can handle a growing number of travellers without inconveniently increasing the number of operations. Growth in passenger numbers and a simultaneous drop in the number of services reflect better occupancy rates on flights. This is very good news also for airlines, which are achieving record results at our airport,” explains RadosÅ‚aw Paruzel, deputy director of Chopin Airport.
As of the beginning of 2015 the airport served 6.4 million passengers, 7.1% more than during the first seven months of the previous year. This included 5.7 million people travelling internationally (up 8.6%) and 670 thousand people flying domestically (down 4.3%).
