Budapest Airport in Hungary has welcomed 10 million passengers in a year for the first time in its history thanks to 12 months of consecutive double-digit growth.
Passenger numbers at the airport have grown by more than 22% in the past five years despite Hungary’s national airline carrier Malev becoming insolvent in 2012. In the past 12 months, Budapest Airport has welcomed three new airlines and started 18 new routes. The airport now has a sum total of 44 airlines connecting the capital with 100 destinations.

Our strategy for this year has been to seek out new and exciting destinations, as well as solidifying our position in central Europe. Next year is already set to be even busier as we continue to do all we can to ensure Budapest and Hungary remain attractive markets.”
