Over 21.4 thousand tonnes of cargo passed through Chopin Airport in the first half of 2011, a year-on-year increase of 13.5%.
 
The airport handled 3 601 tonnes of freight in June 2011, 2.3% down on the same month last year (3 685 t). However, thanks to excellent monthly results earlier this year, the first half of 2011 is another record-breaking period for Chopin Airport.
 
The most popular cargo destinations in terms of the volume handled were: Cologne (3.9k tonnes), Leipzig (2.6k), Chicago (2k), New York (1.2k) and Shanghai (1.2k), with the largest cargo carriers being LOT Polish Airlines (7.2k tonnes), UPS Airlines (5.7k), European Air Transport (2.8k), Air Contractors (0.86k) and Sprint Air (0.84k).
 
Chopin Airport is the biggest airport in Poland. In 2010, it handled over 8.7 million passengers and nearly 41 thousand tonnes of cargo.
