Florida-based G&T Conveyor Company, Inc. has announced the completion of the Terminal 1 in-line baggage handling system at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport,.

G&T was in charge of engineering, manufacturing and installing the baggage handling system that included more than 7,000ft of conveyor, 685 drives, five new slope plate make-up units, ten G&T vertical sorters and 22 G&T power face diverters.

The company also integrated eight new L3 6600 explosive detection screening machines and installed 30,000ft2 of catwalk/platforms that support three levels of conveyors. The new system was divided into the east and west side of the terminal, each side is designed to handle up to 2,000 bags per hour, and took 22 months to complete.
