European airports prepare to reopen
Two more European airports – Paris Orly and Teesside – have announced they will reopen later this month.
Groupe ADP, operator of France’s Paris Orly Airport, says facilities will be reopened gradually, starting in the Orly 3 area on June 26. It will be equipped with thermal cameras to monitor passenger temperatures, and passengers will be required to wear face masks.
Other new safety measures include social distancing, hydro alcoholic gel dispensers, increased disinfection and cleaning, and adapting security control processes to limit physical contact.
In the UK, Teesside International will reopen on June 22. The first flights will head to Aberdeen and Belfast, operated on weekdays by Eastern Airways. They will be followed by weekday flights to London City and Newquay airports from July 6, also operated by Eastern Airways.
The airport has put safety measures in place and only passengers will be allowed in to the terminal. People waving off or welcoming passengers will not be allowed in, and taxi drivers will have to wait outside.
In addition, passengers are advised to wear face masks, check in online, use contactless payment, minimize luggage and sit 2m apart in the departure lounge.
