Mexican airport operator OMA said March passenger traffic sank 22.5 percent from a year earlier, hit by a shift in the Easter holiday and slowing business due to the world financial crisis.

OMA, or Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte, which has 13 airports, including the northern industrial city of Monterrey and the Pacific beach resort of Acapulco, also reported on Wednesday that international visitors fell 28.7 percent during March.

The airport operator said in a statement that traffic was down since the Easter holiday fell in April this year as opposed to March in 2008.
