The Charleston County Aviation Authority approved a layout plan on the Charleston International Airport expansion project. The plan includes extending two concourses and adding a third baggage claim. All this to help move the new traffic Southwest is expected to generate. The Dallas-based discount carrier will begin flights to and from Charleston on 13 March. Airport Director Sue Stevens said that this new expansion will help with airport traffic for decades to come. The approval of the plan was the first step to making it happen. Next, they must submit for Federal Aviation Administration approval.
