With almost a quarter of a million passengers passing through Heathrow between Wednesday and Friday, Heathrow is surprising its arriving passengers from today with a very British and Royal welcome.
The airport has rolled out the red carpet in its Arrivals Hall to give arriving passengers a welcome fit for any future King or Queen.
The carpet, which will be in situ from 27th – 29th April, has been laid to enable the 246,000 passengers expected to pass through the airport over this time a unique chance to experience an unforgettable welcome to Heathrow – the biggest gateway to the UK.
Giving passengers a quintessential taste of Britain, several thousand complimentary cups of special blend White Earl Grey Twining’s tea will also be handed out in the week leading up to the big day. The commemorative blend has been specially created for the Royal Wedding by the iconic tea manufacturers – the perfect accompaniment to a Great British welcome.
To further mark the special occasion, passengers will have the chance to leave their own messages in wedding message books, which will be available in each terminal before being handed over to Clarence House.
Nick Cullen, COO of Heathrow, said: “The Royal Wedding will be a happy day not just for Will and Kate but also a momentous occasion for our country. As Britain takes centre stage and tens of thousands of visitors descend on London, we want to ensure passengers get their own royal welcome as soon as they step off the plane.”
