Grenoble Airport and British Airways celebrate 35 years of regional connectivity

Grenoble Alpes Isère Airport, operated for 20 years by VINCI Airports, welcomed the first British Airways flight of the 2024-2025 winter season on Saturday December 7. This flight was quite special, as it was in 1989 that an aircraft of the famous British airline first landed. Over the last 15 years, almost 280,000 passengers have flown through Grenoble airport on a British Airways flight.
The continuity of flights between Grenoble Alpes Isère Airport and the British destinations served by British Airways since 1989 bears witness to the bond of trust that has been established and maintained between the two entities, and also to the attractiveness of the French Alps’ winter sports resorts, always appreciated by British tourists.
“I am delighted with this anniversary, which symbolizes the lasting relationship between Grenoble Alpes Isère Airport and its partners, and especially British Airways. Since 2004, VINCI Airports has been managing Grenoble Airport with the twofold aim of placing the hub at the service of the region’s needs and developing the connectivity of Isère, for the direct benefit of its inhabitants”, rejoices Pierre Marnotte, Director of Grenoble Alpes Isère Airport.
Neil Chernoff, British Airways’ Director of Planning and Strategy, says: “As our first flight to Alpes Isère Airport for the winter season arrived on Saturday December 7, we are delighted to celebrate 35 years of flying to Grenoble Alpes Isère Airport. Grenoble is a popular seasonal destination for our customers, who over the years have been connected to friends, family and the winter sports resorts of the French Alps. In addition to 15 other destinations in France, customers can choose up to three direct flights a week to Grenoble during the winter season, departing from London Heathrow and Gatwick airports.”
This winter, between the beginning of December 2024 and the end of April 2025, Grenoble Alpes Isère Airport will link up with London Gatwick, another hub in the VINCI Airports network, and London Heathrow, thanks to British Airways.
