Leading UK/US logistics firm appoints new CEO to lead next growth phase

Mark 3 International appoints Matthew Ware, formerly CEO of Heathrow’s express courier handler CFL, to build on success  

Mark 3 International, which specialises in express parcel and freight logistics, particularly with the US, has announced the appointment of Matthew Ware, formerly CEO of CFL, as its new CEO.

Matthew’s eight years at CFL, Heathrow Airport’s only on-site express courier handler, saw the company grow significantly and expand its partnerships with airlines across the world.

Prior to CFL, Matthew held several senior positions with FedEx, where he worked for 16 years.

Ware said; “I am delighted to be joining Mark 3 at this time; the global trading ecosystem has recently suffered some major shocks, but we are very well placed to help our customers continue to import and export efficiently and cost-effectively.

“The growth of ecommerce is simply incredible, and Mark 3 has developed particular expertise in handling ecommerce shipments into the US.”

According to an analysis by ECDB, global ecommerce revenue in 2025 will hit US$5 trillion, 70% of which is accounted for by the US and China.

The UK is the world’s third largest ecommerce market.

Mark 3 International was formed in 1990 and has grown to become one of the UK’s leading experts in UK/US trade. The company has warehousing and clearance facilities at Heathrow and JFK in New York.

Matthew Ware added: “The ability to import and export reliably and efficiently underpins the global marketplace and creates huge opportunities for our exporters.”

Speaking about his time at CFL, Matthew said;  “I am hugely proud of what we achieved in my time there. The team is simply fantastic. They know the business inside out and have developed a number of strong and close relationships with airlines across the world that help create a global marketplace for UK exporters.

“In addition, imports into the UK are now faster, more reliable, and more cost effective.

“I’ve no doubt CFL will continue to thrive under new leadership.”

Matthew concluded; “Mark 3 already works with CFL, and that will continue and flourish to meet the growing needs of our courier partners.”

At CFL, Matthew also oversaw the introduction of a new security system that automates and simplifies manifest information sharing with Border Force and other parties, including HMRC, and means less disruption and more consistent collection times for CFL’s customers.
