Route development team of the concessionaire of Quito airport, Corporación Quiport, participated inthe main route negotiation forum in the Americas Routes Americas 2021 held in Orlando in the United States from June 2325, 2021.

Quiport’s group of executives, led by Ramón Miró, new President and CEO, participated in Routes Americas 2021 with the main objective of stimulating the recovery of air connectivity in Quito and Ecuador through meetings with regional and global airlines.

During the threedays forum, Quiport’s Route development team met with 14 airlines in a oneonone setting to present the case of the Quito airport and how it was able to resume a safe and efficient operation with new biosecurity parameters during the COVID19 pandemic.  The proactive work on health security issues carried out at the Quito International Airport was a key factor in generating confidence in passengers in Quito, resulting in a gradual recovery of the market.

In this regard, Ramón Miró, President and CEO of Quiport, commented: “participation in industry forums such as Routes Americas is essential to stimulate the recovery of air activity in our country and region. The leadership demonstrated by the Quito airport in 2020 set the precedent that a safe and efficient air operation can be carried out, and now we are in the next stage of the recovery of air transport, working hand in hand with the airlines to recover connectivity affected by the pandemic”.

Both the airlines and the air transport industry in general recognized the vision and effort of the Quito International Airport during 2020, for its rapid preparation and adaptation of processes, passenger flows and procedures to face the COVID19 health crisis, its efficient communication efforts during the pandemic and for maintaining high levels of customer service with new technological alternatives and the usual welcoming treatment that characterizes the Quito airport staff.

The results of the meetings held in Routes Americas will be tangible in the medium term, since airlines study in detail the proposals received in an extensive process that can take months or years. This is why it is important to get a head start to actively promote the Quito airport and the destination of Quito and Ecuador internationally in the air transport industry.
