Ukraine Airspace is Closed

Ukrainian state air traffic services has closed the country’s airspace as the country comes under attack.

It suspended all flights at 02:45 Kyiv time (00.45 GMT) “due to the high risk of aviation safety for civil aviation“.

It added: “The provision of air traffic services to civilian users of the airspace of Ukraine is suspended.

Ukraine Travel Advice from the UK Civil Aviation Authority:
Ukraine’s airspace is currently closed. While flights are suspended, passengers who were intending to travel to Ukraine should contact their airline directly for a refund.

EU261 compensation is not applicable, given the extraordinary circumstances.

Ryanair says it has cancelled all flights to and from Ukraine for at least the next 14 days.

Aeroport di Roma said, “Passengers are informed that, as of this morning, the Ukrainian airspace is closed for civilian flights.

Please therefore be advised to contact your airline for information on your flight status. Further updates will be published as soon they are available.

Lithuanian Airports:

Lithuanian Airports informs that due to the restrictions imposed on flights in the airspace of Ukraine, all flights to this destination are cancelled. The period of time for which the restrictions are in place has not yet been announced and information will be updated. Passengers who have tickets to Ukraine are advised to contact the respective airlines.

Please note that due to the large-scale Russian military aggression in Ukraine, the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs urges Lithuanian citizens who are currently in Ukraine to leave the country immediately by land.

Lithuania’s Foreign Ministry reminds that the advice not to travel to Belarus is also in force, and Lithuanian citizens currently in the country are advised to leave.
