184 new electric vehicle charging outlets will be deployed at Osaka International Airport

VINCI Airports is delighted to announce that 184 electric vehicle (EV) charging outlets will be installed in the North Parking Structure 1 and South Parking Structure at Osaka International Airport (ITAMI), in Japan.

With the aim to amove towards net zero emissions by acting on the value chain and beyond, this project attests to VINCI Airports’ ambition to contribute to decarbonising the entire mobility chain, from the runway to city streets, while providing the best quality of services as possible to passengers.

The demand for EV chargers is expected to be even stronger. Currently, the existing charging facility consists of two quick EV chargers, limiting the availability of the charging stations. With this large-scale installation, ITAMI will have the largest* EV charging facilities of any airport in Japan.

EV chargers:

  • Encourage employees or passengers to make the switch to electric, further reducing Scope 3 emission.
  • Encourage partners to electrify their fleets.
  • Contribute to enhancing air quality and environmental health locally

This project is eligible for the subsidy program provided by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry to support the increase of charging facilities set as part of the “Subsidies for Promoting  the Introduction of Clean Energy Vehicles and Infrastructure”. The service is scheduled to start in early 2024. Kansai Airports Group will keep proactively adopting initiatives to reduce environmental impact and contribute to realizing a sustainable society.
