Mumbai: The Public Spaces, Airports & Health (PAH) business vertical of Larsen & Toubro has secured a Limited Notice to Proceed (LNTP) from the PPP consortium developing the New Tashkent International Airport in Uzbekistan.

The LNTP has been issued following the execution of an engineering, procurement & construction (EPC) contract, awarded to L&T earlier, for the construction of the passenger terminal and associated landside infrastructure of the greenfield airport.

Pursuant to the LNTP, L&T has commenced initial engineering, detailed design, planning, procurement preparation and other related pre-construction activities for the project. The Notice to Proceed (NTP) for the full project scope is expected to be issued by the consortium upon fulfilment of the agreed contractual conditions precedent, and following that construction activities at the site will commence.

The passenger terminal and associated landside facilities, to be undertaken by L&T, are to cater to approximately 17 million passengers annually. L&T’s scope of work includes site grading, road infrastructure, structural works, architectural finishes, MEP services, utilities and installation of advanced airport systems.

The New Tashkent International Airport is a landmark greenfield development envisaged to transform Uzbekistan into a major aviation hub connecting East and West, and North and South. This airport forms a key pillar of Uzbekistan’s long-term transport infrastructure strategy and is planned to become one of Central Asia’s largest aviation gateways for passenger, cargo and logistics traffic.

Commenting on the development, Mr Sthaladipti Saha, Senior Vice President & Head – Buildings Infrastructure, Larsen & Toubro, said: ” The execution of this project marks a significant milestone in L&T’s global infrastructure EPC portfolio. The New Tashkent International Airport is a strategically important project that will play a pivotal role in enhancing regional connectivity and supporting Uzbekistan’s ambition of emerging as a leading aviation hub. We are privileged to partner in this transformative development and remain committed to delivering a world-class airport that meets the highest standards of quality, safety and sustainability”.

This prestigious order further reinforces L&T’s leadership in the airport infrastructure segment and underscores its capability to execute large and complex EPC projects across geographies. L&T’s PAH business vertical has established an impressive track record of delivering world-class airports, public spaces and healthcare facilities in India and overseas.
