Aena reorganizes its airports

Spanish airport operator Aena has announced a widescale reorganizations of its facilities in line with government measures and a fall in passenger numbers.

The operator will reorganize its airports over the coming days in a bid to make managing them more efficient and to ensure that operation can resume when demand returns to normal.

At Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport, all flights will take off from Terminal 4. Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport will operate all flights from Terminal T1, in zones A and D.

Palma de Mallorca Airport will keep modules B (inter-island and national flights) and D operational. Ibiza and Menorca airports will retain their winter schedule configurations. In Gran Canaria, two-thirds of the terminal building will close. Tenerife South Airport will operate from a single floor, while Lanzarote will use only Terminal 2, which is currently dedicated to inter-island flights.

At other Aena airports, only essential infrastructure will remain in use, the operator said in a statement. Opening hours will be adapted across all airports, in accordance with government requirements.

Aena has developed contingency plans for all of its airports, the operator confirmed.
