The new terminal at Toccoas-Stephens County Airport has been officially opened following a ribbon-cutting event held on Tuesday (6 December).

According to The Independent Mail, a number of community leaders attended the event, including John Taylor chairman of the Toccoa-Stephens County Airport Authority who described the day as a long time coming.

“The airport authority has worked diligently over the years to help develop this airport into what it is today and there are a lot of people we need to give appreciation to for all of the work they have done out here,” said Taylor.

Construction of the new 6,000ft2 terminal began in March 2011 and is estimated to cost around US$1.1 million, of which US$500,000 can from a OneGeorgia Grant and the rest was funded by special purpose tax sales, The Independent Mail reported.
