Lufthansa Consulting is set to take the lead on airport strategy and marketing for Mosul International Airport in North Western Iraq.

The consultancy firm signed a Memorandum of Understanding regarding the
development of the airport with the Iraqi Government at the recent Iraqi-German Business Forum in Berlin.

Lufthansa will also help with the search for new airlines
and the expansion of aviation-related business such as catering, aircraft maintenance as well as the training of qualified staff.

Since August 2011, the German management consulting company has provided consultancy in previous projects by evaluating and
optimising the ground handling requirements and services at Baghdad, Basra and Mosul airports.

Lufthansa Consulting is also set to oversee the privatisation of ground services at the Iraqi airports.

The firm has been commissioned by the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Iraq to manage the tender process.

The overall project aim is to raise Iraq's air traffic back to an international level and to attract new clients to the country’s airports.
