Moscow Domodedovo Airport has announced the number of passengers using alternative check-in services grew in the first half of 2013.

Over 38% of passengers who departed from Domodedovo in January to June 2013 used common-use self-service (CUSS) kiosks, as well as airlines internet sites and mobile applications to check-in. In comparison, only 26% of passengers used these services in the first half of 2012, with the year-end total up to 30%.

On average 15,000 people use alternative check-in services daily. During the first six months of 2013, over 2.6 million passengers at Domodedovo used the airport’s alternative check-in services.

Online check-in is now the most popular service among air travellers at Domodedovo. In the first half of 2013 over 1.5 million people checked in online, twice as many compared to the same period last year.

Passengers checking in via mobile apps in 2013 increased by 250% compared to last year, totaling 210,000 people. The growing popularity of alternative check-in services has been attributed to the convenience it offers air travellers.

Domodedovo is Russia’s largest airport. In 2012 the airport served 28.2 million people.
