Two of Brazil’s largest airports are to have new seating installed as part of an upgrade of facilities ahead of the FIFA World Cup in 2014 and Olympic Games in 2016.

Brasília International Airport and under construction Greater Natal International Airport in Rio Grande do Norte, will have 8,000 seats between them put in by Zoeftig, who will install its robust Zenky range.

The firm will deliver the standard and recliner seat models, all hand-upholstered in Brazil’s national colour green later this month and oversee assembly and installation.

Both are airports are key hubs when Brazil stages to the world’s two biggest sporting events, when millions of visitors will descend from around the globe and passenger traffic will soar.

Brazil is investing a total of $17 billion into its mass transit to cope with the demands of mass tourism to cope with hosting the world’s two biggest sporting events.

The new seats are part of a $306 million upgrade at Brasília to meet the increased demands in passenger comfort and security. 

While Greater Natal, will feed one of the key venues for next year’s World Cup, and is currently under construction to become the largest airport complex in South America.
